Styrofoam of any kind is NOT accepted in the town's curbside or at the Winter Street recycling drop off area. It is stronlgy recommended to avoid the use of Styrofoam in favor of reusable and easily recyclable products. It is estimated Styrofoam will still be in landfills 500+ years from now.
Styrofoam is only recyclable when it is collected separately by a Styrofoam recycling vendor and is not contaminated by food or other plastics. Please visit www.refoamit.com to view what Styrofoam is accepted and what Styrofoam is NOT accepted. For further information visit www.refoamit.com.
Norwood DPW hosted its 3rd Styrofoam Recycling ONE Day Event on 12.26.2012. The first two Styrofoam Recycling events collected and diverted a total of 950 lbs of Styrofoam from the trash to a clean (non contaminated) Styrofoam recycling stream. Considering Styrofoam weighs next to nothing that is a lot of Styrofoam! Congratulations Norwood residents!
