The purpose of the Norwood Sustainability Commission is to help in the development and implementation of Norwood`s sustainability vision, mission, and related goals. The Sustainability Commission will encourage the development of a culture of sustainability and resilience to future climate change related emergencies and/or natural disasters. The Sustainability Commission is an advisory board appointed by the Town General Manager.

The committee is made up of five subcommittees - click on one below to find out what each does and how you can help in that area.

Community First Partnership - find out how you can save money AND help the environment!

Norwood has been selected to participate in the 2022-2024 Community First Partnership  offered by the Sponsors of Mass Save.

Norwood will work with local Mass Save Sponsor, National Grid, to provide cost-saving energy efficiency solutions to residents, small businesses, houses of worship and local nonprofits. There will be a particular emphasis on reaching renters and landlords, non-English speaking/Limited English Proficiency residents, low-to-moderate income households, and small businesses.

Participants will receive a no-cost energy assessment to identify energy-saving opportunities, such as insulation and heating and cooling equipment upgrades. Through this exciting partnership, the Mass Save Sponsors offer up to 100% off the cost of approved upgrades. Participants can also receive a variety of no-cost energy-saving products such as water saving devices and programmable thermostats.

Norwood’s program goals include:

  • 97 insulation upgrades
  • 54 high-efficiency heating and cooling equipment upgrades
  • 38 small business energy assessments

The Sustainability Commission would you to understand what it does and how you can provide the Commission with feedback to consider as the Commission writes a sustainability action plan.

Bryan Dunn, Sustainability Commission member, developed three great videos explaining what the new Norwood Sustainability Commission does and how residents can provide the Commission with feedback. Check out the three videos here:
