To promote economic development and provide a fast and predictable permitting process, the Town has adopted MGL Chapter 43D, Expedited Permitting. The Expedited Permitting program is currently offered in the Vanderbilt Area Commercial District and the University Avenue Corridor. It guarantees that the land use permitting boards and committees, such as the Planning Board and Board of Appeals, will act on permit applications within 180 days. For more information on Expedited Permitting, see the link below or contact Director of Community Planning Sarah Bouchard.
Massachusetts State Law Chapter 43D allows communities to designate specific geographic areas targeted for economic development. Within those areas, the Town guarantees that certain land use permits issued by the Board of Appeals, Planning Board or Conservation Commission, will be acted upon by those Boards within 180 days.
