Councils on Aging are the principal agencies of local government which serve the elderly, located in every city and in most towns. Most are located within the local senior center.
The three core responsibilities of the Councils on Aging are to:
- Identify the needs of older people along with the available resources within the community to meet those needs.
- Educate the community at large about the problems of aging and the needs of its older citizens.
- Design, promote, and implement services that are needed to coordinate the efforts of agencies, which serve older people
