The Norwood Police Patch
The Norwood Police Patch, adopted in 1971, features the town seal. In the town seal is the figure of Captain Aaron Guild. Legend reports that on April 19, 1775, Captain Guild left his oxen and plow in furrow and went off to Lexington and Concord arriving in time to fire on the retreating British. The date of February 23, 1872 refers to the date that Norwood became incorporated as a town. Formerly, it was part of the town of Dedham.
