National Police Memorial Day is May 15th.
FLAGS TO BE FLOWN AT HALF-STAFF ON MAY 15,
"PEACE OFFICERS MEMORIAL DAY"
The National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund has issued a
reminder to all police and other governmental agencies, as well as to businesses and
private citizens across the country that all flags of the United States are to be flown at
half-staff on May 15, "Peace Officers Memorial Day."
In 1994, the U.S. Congress and President Clinton approved the law, P.L. 103-322, requiring
the American flag to be lowered to half-staff on May 15 as a special tribute to the more
than 15,000 law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty. Last year,
150 law enforcement officers were killed in the line of duty. When we lower our flags on
Peace Officers Memorial Day we will be recognizing that those brave men and women died
upholding our laws and preserving public safety." Their names will be among
those added to the National Law Enforcement Officer's Memorial in Wshington, DC.

C.O.P.S.' "Project Blue Light"
The
Massachusetts Chapter of Concerns of Police Survivors, Inc. is once again asking for
your support in "Project Blue Light." "Project
Blue Light" is a tribute to officers who
have made the ultimate sacrifice as well as those who continue to work in America's
increasingly dangerous street. In the eleven years since "Project Blue Light" was
first introduced by C.O.P.S., it has been embraced by many law enforcement organizations
and their families, Please show your support by placing a blue light in a window,
decorate for the holidays with blue lights, or wave a blue ribbon from your car
antenna. Keep the blue lights burning throughout the year to remind everyone that
law enforcement officers serve and protect every day, minute, and second of the
year. For more information contact MA C.O.P.S. at 781-376-9966 or click on www.nationalcops.org
