Computers are located throughout the library and many provide
access to the Internet. A Minuteman Library card is required to
use any computer except for those reserved for access to the
Minuteman Library Network's Catalog and Databases.
If you would like instruction in using the Library Catalog, Computer Skills for Beginners, Basic Internet and Email for Beginners you can sign up for a class. Check out the class descriptions and call the library to sign up.
Wireless internet access is available in the Reference department and other areas on the second floor.
Microsoft Office software including Access, Excel, Powerpoint,
and Word is available on all Internet computers. An individual's
work must be saved to removable media (e.g. floppy, CD-ROM
or flash drive). Check with the Reference Librarian to see what
type of media is available for purchase.
The Morrill Memorial Library uses Cassie, a software system from Librarica, which
not only controls and limits, but also provides fair access to
all Internet computers. Any attempt to bypass or compromise
Cassie may result in loss of Internet privileges.
Computers in the Children's Department use Internet filtering
software, which attempts to protect children online. Parents
and children should know that filters offer no guarantee of
protection from all objectionable material. Ultimately, parents
are responsible for monitoring their child's use of the Internet.
Computer users must show respect for other people in the
library. No attempt should be made to install software on library
computers or to intentionally change their settings. All local, state
and federal laws must be honored.
