Visiting the Animal Shelter

Visiting The Animal Shelter
The Animal Control Officer, Henry Cerqueira, encourages visitors to the shelter and is happy to answer questions regarding animal regulations, care, behavior, adoption and conflicts with wildlife.  The regular business hours for the Animal Control Officer are Monday - Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., however, this does not mean the officer is physically at the shelter during those hours.  The officer may be out on a call or transporting an animal to/from the vet.  If you're interested in coming in to see our adoptable animals or to speak to the Animal Control Officer it is best to call first, 781-762-3159.

License Information
Licenses are issued by the Town Clerk at the Town Hall.  To obtain a license the owner must provide proof of an up-to-date rabies vaccination. License fees are $15 for dogs that have been spayed / neutered, $20 for dogs that have not been spayed / neutered.  All dogs 6 months or older are required to be licensed. All dog licenses must be renewed by May 30th of each year. Licenses are available for renewal on January 1st each year.

Important note: After May 30th the Town imposes a $25 late fee for any unlicensed dog.  Continued failure to license a dog will also result in a citation from this department per MGL Ch140, Sec 137.  Please license your dog in a timely manner to avoid these extra fees.  If you have any questions you can call our office at 781-762-3159 or the Town Clerk's office at  781-762-1240.
