Story times and activities for children from infancy through
sixth grade are offered throughout the year. Librarians are
always available to assist with school and personal research
questions, help with the computers or to suggest good books
for every age and interest. Older children can join the Jr.
Friends of the Library volunteers. Parents may check out the
"Parent's Shelf" and the parenting programs offered at the
library. Students in Norwood schools are supported by library
staff in collaboration with school librarians and teachers.
Throughout the year there are visits from musicians, writers
and artists. There are magic shows, puppet shows, and animal
programs. During the summer, the summer reading program
keeps everyone reading great books and sharing the fun. The
large collection of children's books, CD-ROMs, books on tape,
magazines, music CDs and videos helps meet the expanding
interests of library users of all ages.
To use the Internet you need a Minuteman library card. Internet
access in the Children's Department is filtered, but children and
their parents are urged to discuss Internet safety together and
with our librarians.
Children are expected to follow the same rules of behavior as
adults. Children should not be left alone in the Children's Room
or anywhere in the building. Parents are responsible for their
children's safety and behavior.
